Tower Hill Primary School, Witney, OX28 6NB
At North Oxford Gymnastics Club, we have created a number of skill specific courses to help gymnasts achieve and focus on specific goals. Meaning they can add extra attention or focus onto the specific skills or interests they are currently aiming to achieve. These courses are ideal to go alongside their current classes either at our club or another local one.
Summer Term Part 1 Courses
Selection of 3-6 week courses • Limited spaces available • from 17th April - 25th May 2023
All Ages Flexibility Course – Tuesdays 7.15-8.15pm
- 6 Weeks in this course
- Focuses on Increasing all around flexibility
- Level: Beginner, intermediate & Advanced
- Most suitable from age 7+
- Coaches: Coach Sammy, Coach Lily & Coach Mel
- Requirements: There are no specific minimum requirements for this course it is open to all levels and abilities from beginner to advanced.

Handstand Technique and variations course – Thursdays 7.15-8.15pm
- 6 Weeks in this course
- Focuses on teaching the correct technique and building strength and awareness of the correct muscle groups and flexibility ranges in order to perform handstands well.
- Level: Beginner, intermediate & Advanced
- Most suitable from age 7+
- Coaches: Coach Sammy, Coach Lily & Coach Mel
- Requirements: This course is ideal for those who can already weight bear on their hands are are working towards one of the following goals:
- Kick up to handstand (perhaps you are struggling to reach the full handstand)
- Wanting to balance longer in your handstand
- Wanting to hold your handstand consistently and securely
- Wanting to develop and work on new handstand shapes

Back Handsprings Course- Saturdays 1-3pm
- 6 Weeks in this course
- Focuses on skills and drills to assist achieving the back handspring. the course will include conditioning and shaping to help achieve the correct technique for safe back handsprings. Or to encourage and teach better technique and shaping for those wishing to improve on their current back handspring
- Level: intermediate & Advanced
- Most suitable from age 7+
- Coaches: Coach Alex & Coach Lucy
- Requirements:
- You must already be training this skill within your current gymnastics setting.
- Have a good understanding of Dish and Arch shaping
- Already be able to bridge kick over or backwards walkover

- HandstandsThis course is ideal for Gymnasts wishing to work on developing their strength and flexibility to help them gain stronger and easier hand balancing and Blox skills, the course will help develop a range of hand balancing skills on the floor and blox such as;
- Level: Intermediate & Advanced
- Most suitable from age 7+ (& any members of our Mini talent teem)
- Coaches: Coach Sammy, Coach Lily & Coach Mel

Bars specific skills Course- Saturdays 3-4.30pm
- 6 Weeks in this course
- Our Gymnasts are always asking for more time on Bars, So we have created its own programme to allow those students that LOVE bars to have some additional time to focus on these apparatus offering a course specific to this, 1.5 hours a week for 6 weeks, helping them move more skills onto this apparatus faster.
- Level: Beginner, intermediate & Advanced
